About Us
The Purleigh Bell dates back to the 14th Century and was the home of George Washington’s great-great-great grandfather who was the rector of the village in 1634. Today the Bell is also home to some great local ales and is proud to be recognised as a pub to visit in the Good Beer Guide 2017. With log fires in winter, a beer garden in the summer and great service all year round you are sure to enjoy this traditional country pub as soon as you arrive.

Julian, the Landlord, comes from Gloucestershire and was brought up in a pub where he learnt about the hospitality trade from his parents. Kirsten, his wife, comes from Essex and spent most of her career ploughing her metaphorical furrow in the art world. Presented with an opportunity to pursue a passion in food and drink they moved into the Bell in December 2009 - just as the snow started falling in the village....
